Everyone said go to Manny's so my dad took me there when I was 12. Shocked me by buying me a set of 1965 Ludwigs for my upcoming Bar Mitzvah. I was never religious, but am still drumming! Danny Burgauer took care of me in the old store, at 120 W 48th St. It was a long narrow space with photos and sheet music on ground level. Drums were stacked upstairs. My kit was right next to a bunch of cases that said "Ringo Starr" Years later I found out they were really Ringo's Ed Sullivan kit, in storage. Manny's was like being in an excellent dream.
