(All is forgiven, gals. I get deleted all the time).
As I was saying, I'm just another kid (now 55) from Queens who remembers hanging in the store in the late 60's. Dreamed of buying a Gibson 335 but Henry would never let me try it out ("Got money, kid? Gonna buy it today?" "No, Mr. Henry, but I will". "We'll talk when you're ready to buy, ok, kid?").Fast forward....ended up with a Hagstrom semi-hollowbody from a place that let me try it out first. Henry on a GOOD day and $75 more and I'd have a Clapton special, in cherry red today. Thanks a lot, Henry. Coulda been a contender!
P.S. Used to take the "E" train from Sutphin Blvd. in Jamaica, Queens with my buddies and walk the rest of the way to 48th Street, knowing we were going to be ignored, or worse. But we loved every minute of it. It wasn't only the store, or Henry. It were THE TIMES! AND WHAT FANTASTIC TIMES THEY WERE!!!
