When my folks divorced my mom started going with this guy who claimed to have played bass with Jay and the Americans - he turned out to be a real louse but that's another story. We were living in Kennebunkport Maine when he decided we should all go down to New York for the weekend. This trip included a trip to Manny's. I remember standing there bug-eyed, staring at Hendrix's signed photo. A couple years later after a lot of begging and pleading I was told I could get 2 new top of the line Sonor kick drum peddles for my birthday . Of course I called Manny's, and the big brown UPS truck pulled up a week or so later. Oh the magic!! Manny's energy emanating from that package!! And the peddles - best I've ever seen. A year or so ago I was in the city with my Polish girlfriend. She is a great sport - she really appreciates how important all this stuff is to me; Electric Lady studios, the Bank where the Filmore used to be and of course Manny's. I got some strings and a couple picks. Manny's one of a kind -I had no idea that would be last time there
