There's a story behind the Eigo name that has to do with immigration.
When my great grandfather came here from Ireland there were many Igoe's coming over so to distinguish himself in the new world he took the e and moved it.
At least that's what they told us.
So if I see Eigo it's likely we're related.
If I see Igoe like Sonny Igoe who played for Woody Herman or his son Tommy also a drummer we're not related.
If you think that's fascinating it's only half as fascinating as the Italian side of my family and my Italian grandparents Angelina and Giuseppe who came through Ellis Island from Bari Italy.
They didn't speak English.
They had 6 kids Joseph, Anthony, Angie, Marie (my mom), Cosimo and Dominick.
Family name is Elluzzi
Because of their language problems everyone in my family has a different last name Elluzzi got turned around to Ilutzi, Slutzi a real mess.
