The funniest memory (in retrospect) I have of Manny's is from September of 1976. I was living in Levittown, NY at the time, and I used to hitchhike into the city with my guitar all the time to play. I had no fear, and today you'd think even less sense, but this was a legitimate form of transportation in those days!. One night I got lucky though, and my friend Stevie Cochran arranged for me to ride into the city with his friend Brian. On the way downtown to the village, which is where I liked to go, we stopped in at Manny's. Brian was looking only at the vintage guitars, and myself, in my grand naivety, asked him, "Why are you only looking at the old guitars?" That story made it back to my friend Stevie, and after maybe 2 decades he told me about it. I had long since forgotten, and I cringed at my stupidity at the time concerning guitars, since I had owned several vintage guitars over the years. The second part of what he revealed was even worse; 'Brian' was none other than Brian Setzer.
